The New Media Design course is centered around learning the various principles of design and how to apply these principles appropriately. The course also focused on learning how to navigate various applications that are often used for design. These applications include Canva, Figma, Illustrator, Photoshop, and various other adobe applications.
Each unit built on each other. We started by learning the essential elements to photography and how to take high quality photos by harnessing the features on our iPhones. Then we learned how to utilize Photoshop and apply these photography skills to our projects. To conclude out Photoshop unit we were tasked to compete in Project Yellow Light. This project required us to make a billboard to promote safe driving. We only had two class periods to make this billboard and showcase the new skills we developed during the Photoshop unit.
Our next project was a progressive group project that utilized a collection of platforms including Canva and Adobe Illustrator. We we were tasked with coming up with a company and completing a branding project for this made up company. This included creating various versions of our Logo, a custom color palette, typography, and personas relating to our brand.
Our final class project was to turn this brand into a prototype using Figma. We made a app prototype, mobile web design, and desktop web design.
